Getting Her Back part 6

Finally putting all the energy he can into the sphere, Max throws it down toward Logan. The blast throws up a huge cloud of dust. It looms in the air, covering the area. Max stands his ground. A breeze slowly moves the cloud away. Logan opens his eyes to see a three foot hole in the ground next to him. Max drops to his knees in front of Logan, to weak to stand.

“But why?” Logan says, looking up at Max.

“Because. You’re in the same condition I was in. I see no reason to go any farther. Now were even.” Max says, heavily breathing.

“Thank you for sparing my life. I have but one request.” Logan says.

“Oh ya? What’s that?” Max asks.

“That you would consider me a friend. Not just to you, but to Chelsy and Nick also. I wish to express my loyalty to all of you.” Logan says.

“Well then. Consider yourself a friend. Although it may be a bit harder to get Chelsy to trust you.” Max says.

“I know. That’s my fault. But I will work hard to change that! Do you think Nick will accept me?” Logan says.

“I think he will. He trusts me and I trust you, so as long as you show your loyalty you should have no problem with him.” Max says confidently. He stands and lifts Logan to his feet. Logan, being too weak to stand on his own, puts his arm over Max’s shoulder.

“Where are we going?” he says.

“To find Nick and Chelsy! What else!” Max chuckles at his own remark.

“But how? They didn’t tell us where they were going.” Logan asks.

“Aura” Max says. Logan watches as max closes his eyes and concentrates. The power surging through Max’s body is so intense that Logan can feel it.

“Where did you acquire so much strength?!” he says in astonishment.

“Found them! I didn’t just acquire it. It took years of training. I’m willing to teach you if you want.” Max says.

“Yes please! But one question. Where does aura come from?” Logan asks.

“Your heart and your willingness to trust in it.” Max says. Logan gives Max a confused look. “You will understand”

“Alright. Well, we’d better go find them. Chelsy is probably thinking I killed you by now. It’s best not to get her over worried.” Logan says. They slowly limp off.
